Lighting Objet 2010

It is the 5th year this lighting art charity exhibition has been held (Planned and produced by Yoko Niki).
Reiko Chikada produced "Hikari-Sankyoku", a folding screen with 3 panels lit by LEDs.
The lighting patterns inspired from "yuzen nagashi", traditional custom of washing colorful kimono fabrics in the river, change every second.

Period: December 16 (Thu.) - December 27 (Mon.)
Place: TOKIA Tokyo Building, Tokyo International Forum, Yurakucho Marui etc.

Saitama City Landscape Council

Reiko Chikada made on-site reviews of the two projects nominated for "Saitama City Landscape Award for Excellence."
She attended the Saitama City Landscape Council as an expert member and joined the selecting process of the award.

Christmas illuminations at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space

Christmas illuminations at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space, Ikebukuro, has begun�iLighting design supervisor: Reiko Chikada Lighting Design Inc.)
Stage lighting fixtures create illusions around a Christmas tree in the entrance hall.
Illuminations can be seen through the end of this year.

The Sky Hall Toyota

The Sky Hall Toyota finally completed (main hall:2007,sub-hall:2010,architect: MHS Planners, Architects & Engineers).
We designed the entrance signs as part of exterior lighting plan.
They are designed not only to inform citizens about the events but also to be street arts.

The 20th AACA Award and the 9th Yoshinobu Ashihara Award

Reiko Chikada attended the Final selection committee of the 20th AACA Award and the 9th Yoshinobu Ashihara Award as a committee member.

Toyota City Budokan and Sub-Hall (tentative name) Completed

The new Budokan (gymnasium for martial arts) and the Sub-Hall was constructed next to The Sky Hall Toyota which had been completed3 years ago (Architect: MHS Planners, Architects & Engineers).

Our lighting design is an expression of "Japanese": simple straight lines of light in Budokan, diffusion light of the Sub-Hall's double skin facade just like soft light coming through shoji (Japanese paper door), and light up of the grid-like columns and beams in the aisle and the lobby.

First selection of the 19th AACA Award and the 8th Yoshinobu Ashihara Award

Reiko Chikada attended the first selection committee, as a member, of the 19th AACA Award and the 8th Yoshinobu Ashihara Award organized by Japan Association of Artists Craftsman & Architects.

The Kawasaki City Cityscape Council

Reiko Chikada attended the Kawasaki City Cityscape Council as an expert member.

A new building "Kokori" completed as part of the redevelopment project in Koubai Area, Koufu City

It is a complex consisting of shops, residences, educational facilities, and parking facility.

Reiko Chikada Lighting Design Inc designed its landscape lighting, lighting of the commercial public area and the parking facility.

On the concept of "City of Gems, Koufu," the exterior aluminum punching wall is illuminated with colored light expressing gems.

The color changes according to the day of the week: emerald, ruby,turquoise,amber, gold,crystal, and amethyst.

Golden Temple Completion Ceremony and 51st Anniversary Festival of Yokoshi Tomo No Kai

A golden temple was completed in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki. (Architectural Design and Construction: Mototate Co., Ltd. Japanese Lacquer and Gold Foil: Saito Urushi Ltd.)
Reiko Chikada Lighting Design Inc. took part in lighting design since 2004.

From 11:00AM to 17:20PM on a sunny midsummer day, Reiko Chikada illuminated the golden temple royally and gorgeously under difficult conditions.

Chiba City Advertisement Council

Reiko Chikada attended the Chiba City Advertisement Council as a member. The council discussed the proposal about integrating the landscape administration and outdoor advertisement administration in the aim of creating an appealing urban landscape to maximize its area characteristic and of ensuring secure life for citizens.

A lecture "Architecture and Lighting Design"

Reiko Chikada gave a lecture "Architecture and Lighting Design" at Department of Architecture, Kanagawa University. She explained the general outline of lighting design as an introduction.

Then, talked about "Rules of Light", "6 senses", "Perspective of Light", and "Landscape Lighting in the World."
