Kanazawa Castle Park, Hashizumemonn Gate

We re-designed the urban lighting around Kanazawa City's historical area at the opportunity of restoring an old castle burned down 120 years ago.The lighting designers' challenges were:1) Making the area a symbol of Kanazawa's 450-year history by quiet light so that people find out the historical heritage as their treasures;And meanwhile,2) Leaving the forest of the area in dark to keep ecological system including scarce insects and plants untouched.
