Christmas Illumination

November 11, the first-light ceremony of Mikimoto Christmas Illumination 2000 was held at Mikimoto Plaza in Ginza, Tokyo. Reiko Chikada Lighting Design Inc. has been taking charge of this annual project since 1992.

This year's feature is Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker. Tiny wooden figures march to and fro, cheerfully dancing around the tree. While they dance, a secret gimmick turns the nutcracker into the prince and amazes the princess.

The installation is until December 25 at the Mikimoto Plaza in Ginza, Tokyo.
