Kanazawa Castle 'Gyokusen-in-maru Garden' Lighting Ceremony
The lighting ceremony was held at Gyokusen-in-maru Garden which was restored in time with the opening of Hokuriku Shinkansen Kanazawa station. Governor Tanimoto of Ishikawa prefecture explained that he aimed to increase overnight stay in Kanazawa with "night viewing spots." And Reiko Chikada said she designed the illumination with music performances on the theme of sunset imagining what Gyokusen-in-maru, the daughter of famous warlord Oda Nobunaga in 16th century, saw in the garden.
For the first time in permanent public facilities in Japan, 2 types of illuminations and traditional Japanese musics are designed for each season.

June - August; "Summer" and "Festival"
September - November; "Autumn" and "Harvest Moon"
