Okayama Korakuen, Kakumei-kan Guest House and Enyo-tei House Illumination

Okayama Korakuen is one of the three great gardens of Japan. The Kakumei-kan Guest House is a building that conveys old samurai residence and is used by citizens for wedding ceremonies and alumni events. The Enyo-tei House used be the most important structure in the garden that was used as a lounge when the domain lord visited the place. Our lighting design of Kakumei-kan Guest House and Enyo-tei House, "The Fantastic Spring Garden", aimed to create an elegant night view expressing the presence of the domain lord and the time he spent in the garden. We illuminated the roof surface, the roof ridgelines, the eaves, and the gables of the buildings to dynamically connect the Kakumei-kan Guest House/Enyo-tei House with the Okayama Castle in the distance. Paper lanterns with swinging soft candlelights are placed inside the buildings. In addition, pale blue lighting on the white sand in the west side of Kakumei-kan Guest House expresses the beautiful waterscape of streams in the garden. The Fantastic Spring Garden is held from April 29 (Fri. Holiday) to May 31 (Tue.)
