Civil Engineering Design Prize 2020, JSCE Award Ceremony + Winner Presentation + Commentary : Web conference

“Four bridges over the Asano River” received the Civil Engineering Design Prize 2020, JSCE for the first time as a lighting design. Followings were the comments from the chair of the judging committee, Professor Yu Nakai of the Tokyo University.
"It's a very high quality light up. The result of this excellent design is not limited to the original purpose of the project to emphasize the existence of historic bridges. (Omitted) It was debated whether the object could be called a civil engineering design only by lighting up, even though it was a bridge. However, the intention of illuminating the structure to illuminate the attractiveness of the urban space is on a civil engineering scale, --- (Omitted). "
