Completion of courtyard lighting at Building KA, Ajinomoto Co., Inc. Bio-Fine Research Institute

This project involved the refurbishment of the courtyard lighting at the research institute located within the Kawasaki Plant. In addition to converting existing lighting fixtures to LED and implementing safety measures to prevent accidents such as falls caused by dimly lit stairways and walkways, the project aimed to enhance the institute’s aesthetic appeal and provide lighting that offers a sense of relief to tired researchers as they head home. In particular, to create ‘lighting that allows staff to relax’, a long, narrow beam of light was installed from the fourth-floor balcony of the research institute facing the courtyard, following the path of the garden. This light gradually fades out as staff leave the entrance and move away from the institute, providing a gentle glow that helps staff who have been working late into the night to unwind as they make their way home.
