First Round of Judging for the AACA Awards 2026 (36th Edition)
Architecture, Art, and Crafts Association (AACA) is an organisation that aims to create environments rich in artistic expression and beautiful landscapes, by bringing equal recognition to participants from various creative fields surrounding architecture—including architects, artists, craftspeople and designers—and fostering collaboration amongst them.
The fields covered by the AACA Award are wide-ranging, including urban design, regional design, landscape design, public design, architecture, crafts, painting, sculpture, environmental art, graphic design, display design and interior design, as well as extending to the fields of materials and energy. The award covers not only works that create new artistic environments but also those aimed at preserving and passing on outstanding historical landscapes.
Reiko Chikada served as a judge for the 36th AACA Awards, assessing 81 entries. Twenty works passed the first round of judging. Following on-site assessments, a public judging session was held on Monday 9 November at the Kenchiku Kaikan Hall, where one work was selected for the AACA Grand Prize, the Art and Crafts Prize, and one work for the Yoshinobu Ashihara Newcomer Prize. The Excellence Prize, Encouragement Prize and Special Prize were also awarded, and the awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday 9 December
