Nouvelle Akabanedai

It is a reconstruction of a housing estate built in 1963. The new buildings comprise three blocks with courtyards and community roads. The architects focused on creating an ease of walking around the blocks and providing community areas for residents to socialize. More than 60% of the residents are low-income elderly. Our task was to produce safe night scene in the public area and to reduce the financial burden on the residents by saving electricity expense. We selected low-cost fluorescent lamps, highly efficient metal halide lamps, and minimum energy LEDs as light source.
