Lighting Fair 2013 Symposium "Ancient Japanese Light"

Reiko Chikada and Hisae Nozawa will host a symposium with Mr. Araki, the Head Priest of Kyoto Shimogamo Shrine, at Lighting Fair 2013 (Tokyo Big Sight West Hall 14:40-15:30.) Summary: Japanese gods "KAMI" were developed within the context of history such as ethnicity, regionality, culture, and tradition.

Mr. Araki, the Head Priest of Kyoto Shimogamo Shrine, will explain how Japanese people have regarded light and dark within various phenomena including weather and natural phenomena since ancient times. Reiko Chikada will introduce cases of mystic lightings from lighting designer's viewpoint. In addition, they will exchange views on Japanese values, Asian values, and global values of light and dark.
