March 5th Lighting Fair Symposium "Ancient Japanese Light"

The symposium at Tokyo Big Sight was a success and it received great feedback from audiences.
Mr. Araki, the Head Priest of Kyoto Shimogamo Shrine which is one of the world's cultural heritage explained in the symposium entitled "Sun and shade, praise of light and dark" how Japanese people have regarded light within various phenomena including weather and natural phenomena since ancient times. Additionally, Reiko Chikada introduced case studies of mystic light from lighting designer's viewpoint.
And at the end, views on Japanese sensitivity to light were discussed. They expected this discussion searching for the origin of Japanese view on light and Japanese unique sensitivity to light would help reviewing the Japanese lighting design in Asia.
