| 2026/09/24 | Completion of the Kaga Kurayashiki Art Museum—Restoration of a Traditional Japanese House
The main house, built in the late Edo period (1814) and once home to a family said to be descendants of fugitives from the Heike clan, has been restored as an art museum (Architectural Design and Production: Kanazawa Sekkei, Osamu Akasaka; Landscape Design: Takahiro Tsuba, Kanazawa College of Art and Design; Lighting Design: Nozawa). The lighting design was planned to highlight the dynamic timber framework in the open-ceilinged earthen-floored area on the first floor, provide soft lighting in the various Japanese-style rooms to appreciate the heirloom fusuma paintings, and create a relaxing ambiance in the rooms on the second floor, which are used as hotel accommodations.
